Teamwork Makes The Dreamwork

I have learned a lot of things during the process of creating a dance cover, but I think the most important thing was the value of teamwork. Know I know this sounds a little cliche, but I will explain. To start off, there are so many different kinds of teams that I have been apart of in the past, and I know this is only about 0.01% insight into the K-pop world, but I am that 0.01% closer to understanding the teamwork aspect within K-pop Idol groups. We did not create choreography and this is not our careers/live’s work on the line where you have to trust your teammates, but I have gained an understanding about this kind of teamwork that would have been impossible without this cover dance process. Like Professor Saeji mentioned in our CNS cover dance video, what better way to learn than to immerse yourself?
When we made our group, and even now after we had finished, there was never a set leaders or set followers. We all naturally fell into our roles within the project, finding jobs for ourselves based on our skill levels and knowledge in certain areas, but we all worked equally as hard, just the same. Whether someone wasn’t the best at dancing or typically taught everyone the moves, everyone offered their help to each other, both with the cover dance and the emotional stress of life in general, which is important in teams.
I realized personally is my fear of letting our team down, whether it was leaning the moves or filming for hours even after I got hurt. I can’t imagine being an idol and having that feeling, but it is amplified because this is your life and career, your group's lives and careers, and many fans counting on you. They trust in you so you want to do your best, whether it’s in your control or not. I will never fully understand the teamwork of K-pop Idol groups, but I have gained a learning experience that I wouldn’t have without this process.
