To say I was a little overwhelmed with the process of creating this cover video is an understatement. I’ve been watching K-pop dance cover videos online for a couple of years now, and though I knew the process must be difficult, with hair and makeup and sets, I didn’t think it was going to be this difficult. The hardest part of the whole experience by far was making time for practices and the constant fear of not having enough time. I knew about K-idols being worked to the bone and having side-effects, like exhaustion during a performance or straight passing out, now I see where a portion of that stress stems from. It gives you a real sense of respect for the difficult work they do almost every day of the year.
This experience really brought people together for fun and a little physical activity, which I’m sure as college students we don’t get much time for anyways. The small amount of time we had for practice was a real stress reliever. Personally, it allowed me to take a step out of the massive amounts of studying and work, and give me time to enjoy myself and just breathe. As the youngest of the group, I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress that comes from the big move from high school to college. Homesickness has been a real struggle for me these last couple of months and this project has helped subside some worries I’ve had about making friends or getting myself out there. The support that was at every practice was so comforting and made me feel a part of the group. This has been an experience I’m glad I didn’t miss. Now, I’ve found some really incredible people that I’m happy to call my friends.
